Stuffed with highly packable, 700-fill responsibly sourced down, it squashes down to fit into a backpack with the help of the compression sack and space-saving 'mummy' shape. And don’t worry about damp, humid conditions – the durable water-repellent finish makes easy work of moisture to keep you dry, even after sundown. Plus, the fully insulated hood comes with a cinch collar to help seal out chilly breezes and keep your head warm. Trapezoidal side chamber baffles reduce cold spots and retain loft, but the 2/3 side zip is easy to undo to let in fresh air whenever you need it. Fidgety sleeper? Then attach the shock cords to the sleeping pad to remain in place while you sleep.

Wash with special care

Down products are delicate and need special care to maintain maximum effectiveness. Using ONLY a front-loading machine, wash in warm water with a liquid detergent specific to down (without bleach) on a gentle cycle and low spin. You may wish to repeat the rinse cycle to be sure all soap residue is removed. An extra spin cycle will help remove excess water. Do not lift the product from the washer; scoop it from the bottom.

Close all fastenings

Before cleaning, turn your product inside out and close all Velcro® fastenings and zips to prevent accidental damage.

Have it professionally cleaned

If you can’t fit your down product in your washing machine or tumble dryer, we recommend that you have it professionally cleaned by a service that specialises in cleaning down. It will save you time and energy.

Tumble dry on a low setting

Tumble dry your down product over a long period on a low setting. It is also important that you wash and dry items individually. We recommend adding tennis or tumble dryer balls to the dryer to make sure the down does not clump.

Do not hang dry

If you don’t have a tumble dryer, you can dry your down product over a radiator. Move it around every now and then to retain the down’s loft.

The McMurdo Parka is named after an Antarctic research station. That's because it packs serious weather protection. A true all-rounder, this new iteration is warm and waterproof thanks to lightweight down insulation and highly durable two-layer GORE-TEX® technology for all-day dryness when you're out braving the elements. There's a reason the Quest Jacket is back for another season: because it continues to deliver great value, and reliable rain and wind protection. This shell is made from lightweight, two-layer DryVent™ with taped seams and a water repellent finish. All this means you stay dry, protected from the wind and won't get too hot and sweaty in the process - ideal when hiking in shifting conditions. It features a fitted, adjustable hood and a cinch-cord hem and elasticated cuffs to keep bad weather out. A brushed-knit chin guard means the top of the zip won't become irritating and there are two zipped hand pockets.

Close all fastenings

Before cleaning, turn your product inside out and close all Velcro® fastenings and zips to prevent accidental damage.

Retreat the garment

To prolong the life of your weatherproof gear, you’ll need to retreat the garment to replace the waterproof coating after a certain amount of washes. If you notice that water is not beading as well as it did when you first purchased the garment, it may be time to retreat it. You can replace the durable water-repellent coating (DWR) with a spray-on or wash-in product, following the instructions carefully.

Machine wash

Machine wash at 40°C or below with similar colours. To get the best performance out of your gear, wash it as often as necessary to remove impurities, such as sweat, dirt, campfire smoke and cooking odours.
